Upromise - Join Upromise for free and let hundreds of America’s leading companies help you save for college

If you've worried that you've never taken that first step towards your child's education, check out Upromise.com. They let you set up a savings plan where whenever you make a purchase at certain stores, buy certain products, eat at certain restaurants, or get gas at certain places, a little of the purchase price goes towards a savings account for your child.

You've probably seen the Upromise logo (that little U with the graduation cap on it) on products at the grocery store--if you were a Upromise member, a little of the purchase price of those products would have gone to you, for your child's education.

My wife and I set this up years ago, and to be perfectly honest, we don't even pay attention much to it anymore. We don't really go out of our way to buy products or shop places that have the Upromise logo, but we like knowing that whenever those products fit into our plans, we're putting money aside without even realizing it.

The other nice thing is that other people's Upromise accounts can be linked to your child, so if the grandparents or someone else want to sign up, their purchases could work towards your child as well.

It's free to sign up, so check them out!
